Thin sites

AEO when you have almost no content

You do not need a content library to be quoted. You need a small number of pages that answer completely, which is a different and much smaller job.

The short answer

A five-page site can be cited if those pages state what the business does, who it is for, what it costs, how it compares and what happens next. Volume is not the mechanism; a complete, specific answer is. The fastest route from nothing is five pages, not fifty posts.

What ranked on 23 September 2026: Advice in this category almost universally recommends publishing more. That is a reasonable default for a site with a team behind it and poor advice for a business with one person and five pages.

What a thin site should publish first

In order, and each one is a page rather than a programme.

  • What this is and who it is for, in a paragraph that names the buyer and the problem without adjectives
  • What it costs, with whatever conditions are real
  • How it compares with the obvious alternative, including when the alternative wins
  • What happens when someone gets in touch: the process, the timeline, who they speak to
  • Proof of any kind that is verifiable: numbers, named work, credentials, anything that is not an adjective

Things that sound right and are not

  • ClaimWe need a blog before any of this works.

A blog helps a model find you for informational questions. Commercial questions are answered from the pages above, and most thin sites are missing those rather than missing posts.

  • ClaimWe will fill it with AI-written articles to get volume.

Volume without specifics gives a model nothing to quote, and search guidance on scaled content has moved firmly against it. Five true pages beat fifty generic ones.

  • ClaimOur homepage explains everything.

A homepage answering five questions at once answers none of them extractably. One question per page is the unit.

Where to start

  1. 01Write the who-it-is-for paragraph and put it at the top of the homepage.
  2. 02Add a pricing page with a real number and its conditions.
  3. 03Write one comparison page against the alternative buyers mention most.
  4. 04Write a short process page: what happens, in what order, how long.
  5. 05Only then consider a blog, and write it against questions you have actually been asked.

Questions

How many pages is enough?
Five that answer completely will do more than fifty that circle the subject. Add more when you have another question worth a whole page, not to hit a number.
Will AI-written content hurt us?
The problem is not the tool, it is generic text with no specifics. Published guidance on scaled content abuse targets exactly that, and it is also the copy models have nothing to quote from.
What if our service is hard to explain?
Then the explanation is the most valuable page you can write, and the difficulty is why nobody has taken the query yet.
