What AEO costs, and what moves the price

Across sixteen searches on 18 September 2026, one result quoted a range. That says more about the market than the range does.

The short answer

There is no standard price. Published ranges run from a few thousand dollars a month to six figures a year. Most work is sold as a retainer, and the biggest cost driver is whether anyone does execution or only reports.

What ranked on 18 September 2026: One listicle quoted five thousand to one hundred and fifty thousand dollars. That is a category description, not a price. Every other result offered a contact form.

What moves the price

These change a quote by a multiple, not a percentage.

  • Execution included, or recommendations handed back
  • Pages to rewrite and how fast you approve claims
  • Whether your entity needs correcting on trusted sources
  • Whether the site is technically retrievable today
  • Languages and markets, each multiplying the work

Questions that separate scope from retainer

Two quotes are not comparable until these are answered.

  • What is the month-one deliverable, and who writes it?
  • Which of monitoring, diagnosis and execution is included?
  • Who chooses the fixed question set?
  • What changes when a model update moves the numbers?
  • What would you advise if we cancelled after the audit?

Questions

Asked most.

Why does nobody publish AEO prices?

The work is not standardised and results are not guaranteed. A published price invites comparison on the one axis sellers control least.

Is a cheap AEO retainer worth it?

Only if it buys execution. A low fee usually buys monitoring and a report, which records your invisibility without changing it.

Can we do this in-house?

Often, if someone already does organic work and can publish fast. Outside help earns its fee on diagnosis and third-party description.
