What is different about selling products
Retail has a machine-readable layer that other industries do not: the product feed. It already exists for shopping ads, and it is usually more accurate than the website.
- Specifications answer the question. Size, weight, material, compatibility and what is in the box are what a shopper asks and what a model can quote
- Reviews carry the caveats a model repeats, including the unflattering ones, so the honest summary of complaints is more useful than a five-star average
- Delivery, returns and warranty terms decide purchases and are frequently buried in a policy page that says nothing specific
- Marketplaces hold copies of your catalogue that may contradict your own site, and a model reconciling two versions of a spec will often use neither
- Seasonal and stock language dates badly: a page promising next-day delivery that is no longer true becomes a quoted mistake
